Sultan Ahmed I Mosques
Known as the Blue Mosque is a stunning example of architectural splendor of the Ottoman Empire, and was commissioned by Sultan Ahmed I in 1609, its construction took seven years to finish building it in 1916, before the death of Sultan Ahmed only one year.
It is worth mentioning that the Sultan Ahmet wanted to over estimation of his mosque, ordered the construction of six towering minarets of the mosque, but was met with strong opposition because the Holy Mosque has six minarets of the time, Sultan Ahmed ordered the construction of a seventh minaret of the Holy Mosque to distinguish it.
